Where to eat, from casual to formal, Mexican to pizza and even farm to table. We recommend you call ahead to see if operating and/or open for take out. Some menus are at the cabin, but use links for more current and up to date info:

ROCHESTER (15 minutes):

  • Maple Soul  DELICIOUS farm to table and the best dining in Rochester. Locally owned and locally supplied, it is the favorite of many renters (and myself!) Reservations are recommended, but bar seating is often available for walk-ups. Menu is updated daily either HERE or on Facebook. Open Wednesday thru Saturday 5-9.   • Sugar Mama’s Rt. 100 (Great baked goods, coffee, etc.) Check website for menu and call ahead (preferably call Thursday for Friday bagels): (802) 767-4258 (Opens at 7:30am)
  • Rochester Cafe, Rt. 100, Rochester (802) 767-4302. Classic breakfasts/lunches outdoor (warmer months) and indoor dining. Open: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 8-3. PIZZA NIGHT FRIDAY 5:00-7:30. Open You can order online, too and the front porch is dog friendly.

WARREN (20 minutes):

  • The Pitcher Inn, Warren center (Very fancy and GREAT food, but pricey. Special occasions!)  Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. 802.496.6350
  • We prefer “Tracks” downstairs at The Pitcher Inn. More casual and kid friendly with games and lodge feel. (Reservations recommended.)  Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. 802.496.6350
  • The Warren Store, Warren center and across the street from the Pitcher Inn (Great sandwiches, candy, beers, etc. and fun to visit.)

WAITSFIELD (25 minutes):

  • American Flatbread Pizza, Rt 100 Open, first come, first serve: Thurs – Sun 4:00 to 9:00 Some of the BEST PIZZA on the planet! Open now for picnic and takeout too, as well as indoor dining. First come, first served, but grab a beer or glass of wine and enjoy chatting with many other friendly people around the outdoor bonfire!  (802) 496-7825 CLOSED: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday
  • The Big Picture, Rt 100 (Movie theater and restaurant.) Call (802) 496-8994 for takeout.
  • Canteen Creemee  5123 Main St., Waitsfield, Rt 100 in the “Mehurons Plaza”. Open year round. AMAZING fried chicken, sandwiches, etc. and INCREDIBLE ice cream… Try a Maple Creemee!   • Mad Taco, near Mehurons Open 7 days a week, noon-8:00 (Very casual Mexican, but fun and delicious!!!) Call for takeout, but CALL EARLY! (802) 496-3832
  • Madbush Falls 7575 Main St., Waitsfield Open for dinner 7 days a week, 8am-10pm, (breakfast and lunch not available Wednesday and Thursday) Open 5pm-9pm (Casual and new kid on the block. Great bar and pub style food and beer. Sunday brunch from 10-2.
  • Toast and Eggs 4752 Main St., Waitsfield (Newcomer serving breakfast, brunch and lunch… and dinner! Looks tasty!!)

A little further away (45 mins), but a few places worth the trip:

  • Hen of the Wood 14 South Main St., Waterbury (Often cited as Vermont’s best restaurant and one of our all time favorites! Reservations recommended.)  CLOSED: Tuesdays, (Open 5-10, bar: 4:30-11)  802.244.7300
  • Michael’s on the Hill 4182 Waterbury-Stowe Rd. (Rte 100) Waterbury Center (On par with Hen of the Wood and also in Waterbury. Award winning and romantic!) Dinner 5-9, closed Tuesdays (802) 244-7476
  • The Blackback Pub 1 Stowe St. (but enter from Main St.), Waterbury (Great English style cozy pub… with great food and 22 beers)  CLOSED: Mondays
  • Prohibition Pig  23 South Main Street, Waterbury (Upscale brewery and great food). CLOSED: Tuesdays
  • Bobcat cafe 5 Main St., Bristol (Good brewery, but great restaurant. Dinner reservations required!) Open Wednesday thru Sunday 4-8, but call to confirm: (802) 453-3311 CLOSED: Monday and Tuesday
  • The Tillerman 1868 N Rt. 116, Bristol (802) 643-2237 (Elegant, yet casual and delicious fine dining).
  • Red Clover Inn 7 Woodword Rd., Menden, Vermont (Very well regarded, reservations suggested.) CLOSED: Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • The Red Hen Bakery 961 US Rt. 2, Middlesex, VT (Some great baked goods, but our favorites are the potato bread (Sundays and Tuesdays) and the Maple Glazed Sticky Bun… $4.50, but worth it!)
  • The Backroom Pittsfield (802) 770-4357 (Supper club style only open in winter, but very fun, delicious and amazing. You can go on waiting list, but should book at midnight, 30 days before).  Can only make reservation 30 days in advance, no more. Book at midnight to be sure to get seats!)
  • Worthy Burger 56 Rainbow St., South Royalton (GREAT grass fed burgers and GREAT beers on tap… fun pub for lunch or dinner.)  CLOSED: Tuesdays
  • Tozier’s Restaurant (802) 234-9400 2678 River St. (Rt 107), Bethel Open spring, summer and fall 7 days a week, 11-8pm. Great roadside restaurant with fried chicken, clams, etc.  CLOSED FOR WINTER
  • Saap 50 Randolph Ave, Randolph. (802) 565-8292 Award winning northern Thai cuisine that everyone is raving about… worth the trip!
