Some fun summer/spring things to do nearby. (I will update openings/closures, but check the various websites before heading out to see what restrictions may be in place.):

  • Waitsfield Farmers Market, Waitsfield: Open Saturdays 9-1pm, May 16 into October. A great way to spend a Saturday morning sampling local, fresh food and picking up the finest goods/veggies for dinner later… They ask that you not socialize, but rather get whatever you want/need, then head back home. Please check the website for more instructions.

  • Rochester Farmers Market:  Friday afternoons, 3-6pm. Open June 5 to October 9. Rochester’s Market & Exchange features local farm produce, products and meat, baked goods, crafts, art and more.

  • Sunshine Valley Berry Picking  Fresh, organic berries just 10 mins away. They are working on a safe way to pick and offer curbside pick-up.

  • Bethel Drive-In Theater  An old school way to see a movie and just 30 minutes on the other side of Bethel Mt. Road. Easy way to socially distance and entertain the family. NOTE: Cash only, but you can bring your own snacks/drinks.

  • Sunset Ledge Hike: (1-2 hour RT, semi-easy hike, beautiful western views

  • Tweed River Tubing: Stockbridge 20 minutes away, fun 2-3 hr river rides. On a hot day, nothing is better, but make sure to get there before noon!

  • Sugarbush Zip Line: Fun for kids… big and small. Frisbee golf, too!

  • Ben and Jerrie’s Ice Cream Tours, Waterbury: The tours of the factory are temporarily closed. Check back later, if you want to see it in action.

  • American Flatbread Pizza, Waitsfield: Fun summer or winter, but in the summer, you can sit outside with a beer or glass of wine. Kids can draw, run and play while you sit by a nice bonfire and relax. Very fun place, not to mention incredible pizza.

  • Burlington Church Street Marketplace: Vermont’s biggest town (200k) and home of UVM. You can spend a great day/afternoon/evening here meandering the giant pedestrian mall. It’s lined with many shops, pubs, and interesting stores, and is exceptionally dog friendly. Check for updates on Covid 19 policy and restrictions.

  • Shelburne Farms, Charlotte: Beautiful old estate on Lake Champlain overlooking the Adirondacks. Many fun events or just go stroll the grounds and enjoy a cocktail at sunset! (Unfortunately, they are remaining closed for the summer of 2021. You are welcome to visit and use the trails around the property, but the buildings are closed.)

  • Covered Bridge Tour: There are over 100 covered bridges in Vermont, so have fun and take a day to enjoy a little tour. Maybe plan so you end up at somewhere good to eat!

  • Waterfall Tour   (Texas Falls, Bartlett Falls, Warren Falls, and Moss Glen Falls can all be seen in about a two hour loop.) Maybe stop in Middlebury or Bristol for lunch? And it’s a beautiful drive through the Green Mountains!
