Picnic at the Top!
We recently added a picnic table and chairs to the field on the top of the property. It’s just a few hundred yards up the trail where you can enjoy a nice meal outdoors (or even just a glass of wine or beer). Feel free to explore the woods and surrounding fields before or after, too.
Coronavirus Update
Coronavirus update:
Vermont and it’s people have done a tremendous job of curtailing the coronavirus. It maintained the lowest rate of infection and it now boasts the highest rate of vaccination for the entire US. Because of this outstanding effort, the governor, Phil Scott, has lifted all state mandated COVID restrictions.
Things are now much less restrictive as over 80% of the population has been vaccinated. Most restaurants are now allowing indoor dining and outdoor activities no longer require masks. We still suggest that you bring a mask, as some stores may request that you wear one. You should also bring your vaccination card, as some restaurants may require it for entry. Federal laws still apply and vulnerable people need to be protected. Courtesy goes a long way and respect for others is always a good thing 🙂
The Romantic Retreat is equipped with a built-in HRV air exchange system (Heat Recovery Ventilator) which runs for 20 minutes, every hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Little Loft has two powerful exhaust fans which can rapidly remove air. This extracts the indoor air and replenishes it with fresh outdoor air several times a day. And outdoors, there are over 10 acres to enjoy for walks, etc.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. We want everyone to be safe, but know that we need places where we can escape. It is an unprecedented time for us all, but because of everyone’s help, we are getting through this. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions as we want you to have a great stay in Vermont!

Hiking Around the Cabin
There are several trails around the cabin and through the woods. Please be aware that the large open fields are owned by our neighbors, so please be respectful. More info is in the hiking section, but feel free to enjoy a nice walk anytime of year (with or without your dog)!
Winter Hiking/Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing with your dog on our trails is just one of many fun activities here at the cabin:
Killington Opened for the Season Nov. 4th
Killington opened to the public Monday, Nov. 4 (to passholders the day before). Reports are saying that the man-made snow conditions were great and that it even snowed on Sunday!
Fall Foliage Photos
It was a beautiful fall foliage season… so glad to get to see and enjoy it!
Beautiful Moose Photo
A recent guest spotted this bull moose off of the Natural Turnpike in Ripton this September. He photographed it some time between 7:30 and 8am and has graciously allowed us to display it here, so please enjoy!
Michael Egan Glassblowing
Located right here in Granville, Michael Egan Glassblowing is a definite must visit. You can watch Michael and apprentice(s) at work and/or shop in his gallery. We’ve found many one of a kind pieces and his beautiful glassware makes for excellent gifts!
What’s going on up the trail?
Some of our long time renters have inquired as to what is being built just up the trail? It’s a tiny, 250 square foot cabin with loft, which we plan to make available for rent and use as our “guest house” when family and friends are visiting. Originally built as our new shed next to the cabin, I’ve had it moved and placed on a foundation so that it will be usable all year. I am currently in the process of finishing the interior, then planning to begin rentals some time early 2021.
